Flaps failure in PMDG 737-900

On my last flight while on approach I gave the command for my first officer (I also use fs2Crew) to lower the flaps down to 1. After a few seconds he
announced that the flaps were not going down. I confirmed this and went to the overhead panel, flipping open the alternate flaps cover and flipping
the switch to "down". Not having used this feature I expected the flaps to go down in increments, not altogether. They went down to 40 (unkknown to
me) and with all that was going on my aircraft stalled. Autopilot disengauged and/but I was able to recover and land ok. With this experience I was
wondering if someone could give me the procedure for this emergency in this aircraft (737-900) and for fspassengers (do I declare an emergency etc).

Chris, even though the flaps show down, the frozen flaps condition will remain as if they are stuck in flaps one or totally up. I've had this happen
on all PMDG aircraft I own. The idea is to simulate the frozen flaps condition, so even if the aircraft shows full flaps externally, you will find the
aircraft pitching up as the speed bleeds off. Obviously you have to keep this in mind during a FsP failure with the PMDG aircraft. The first time I
found this out with the MD-11, I had to firewall the engines to get the speed up again Was dang near a stall.

In another forum I was told only to use the alternate flaps when experiencing a full hydrolic loss. My actions were incorrect on this flight. I should
have landed in flaps up position. Still looking for a procedure to use with this past situation. Thanks Joeflyer for the heads up. Do you know what
procedures are out there for a flaps failure or flaps frozen.

That would be true if you are using PMDG's programmed failures and not FsP's. If you look in the FMC and see what the minimum airspeed is required
for the first notch of flaps, add about 20 knots for the approach or whatever you feel is necessary to keep the airplane from stalling on the
approach. Definitely it's going to be a "hot" approach and landing, so be sure you have enough surface area to land on
