What are frame rates?

hi ive just recently brought some UK2000 scenery but it keeps saying about your frame rates i wasnt sure what frame rates are
is it betetr to aheva higher or a lower frame rate?
and wat do they do in gameplay?

Frame rates are FPS: frame per second.

The higher, the better. If you have 1 FPS it's like having a new "picture" at each second. If you have 100 FPS, your monitor refresh 100
times each second.

If you have standard key commands you can hit Shift and Z to see your FPS

To be fair, anything above 15 FPS is what most people consider acceptable to play with. The problem with 15 is that it has to be the
minimum frame rate and not the maximum. If it's the maximum that you get you'll have the impression that FS2004 stops and gos and
stops and gos... if you can keep it above 15 you shouldn't have any problems.

I set mine to 30 in the display panel. In heavy weather, with 100% traffic at dusk at KLAX I usually drop in the 14 FPS range. Most of the
time I hover between 25-30.

My FPS is around 17-19 is that good??? and it says Blocked at 20 FPS, what does this mean???

if its blocked at 20 that means if it goes ay higher than 20 itll improve the scenery in order to keep u at 20 fps

It means that you have set 20 FPS in the video options of flight simulator, so FPS can't goes over that refresh rate. In my opinion 30 FPS would be a
better setting. I've also heard that the FPS setting "ILLIMITATE" is not suggested because FS9 doesn't "like" it.

The key point is are you happy about the way the simulator feels? If you are, don't change anything. If you're not, start playing with the
config. IMHO, you're better off having a simulator that runs smoothly at 20 fps then one that looks stunningly good but only runs at 12-14
fps.

Just for a reference point, the standard television in the USA runs at 29.97 frames per second. Your standard movie film runs at 23.97 (I
think that's right, might be off by one) frames per second.
