Hey all i made a very rash desision today, i have removed my FS04 off my computer....

there is a method to my madness, i am in the process of upgrading my computer so i can run FS at maxium settings so i wont be around
for a while, but i will be around the forums to help where i can.

Hey: good luck ste! I've been wanting to exactly the same, but I probably won't have the guts to go through with a total re-install until the X-Mas
hols (and even then, I doubt I'll find the courage to be FS(P)-less for any period of time!

Oh man, i know what you're going through.... Some weeks ago i made that decision too. Though it was not because of any hardware upgrade, sometimes i
just feel the need to start all clean and reinstall the whole thing. Preperation is the key to success here!
First make sure you have a comfortable chair and have everything within reach. All your software in order of install piled up on your desk.
A continuous flow of coffee, cookies, food and whatever you like or start to like during the install process.
When the days passes by, exchange the coffee for beer and continue like nothing happened.
The next morning reinstall everything from the point on where you started to have beer the night before.
Then, the big moment is there, your first startup of fs9 again.... After cursing and another sixpack check the avsim forums why you see squares,
blurry textures, stutters etc.
Spend another day tweaking all possible cfg files.
Blame wife or gf or both for the fact that you forgot to backup your FsP files.
In the meantime spend some time hanging around on this forum and if there's no new topic, just resurrect one which is dead for 4 months already, we
all will reply, guaranteed.
Finally, after days and days, you will have a perfectly running system and enjoying like never before.... It's all worth it, even if there's no need
at all

im making this similar transition on thursday when my new parts arrive

motherboard, case, psu, cpu, gfx all coming

soooooo, will find out the cd's to reinstall everything
most things are already copied to my slave drive as my c: drive will be formatted, and windows reinstalled
will stock up with plenty of beer (the most important part )

i hope to be back online on friday at the latest, if not late on Thursday

Hey drew, its taking a few months as ive got a few other games i wana try out an other stuff ive got to do on my comp before i want to
upgrade, im going to strat buying soon though, hopefully, my dad is doing the same to his comp so im going to see what parts he uses
(he actually knows quite a bit, for a parental,lol) and then see if i can get better one's

i had to do it for 2 WEEKS thats all and i was so close to going round a ex m8es house and begging to play it!

i keep everything for fs9 on a external harddrive after last software addon point and leave it that way. If i install something from online
sometimes i dont update my copy but its good to have almost or the most important things backed up on external for safety. and when im
ready to wipe out the cp and start all over, its there to my exposal

Yep, I'm with you the external drive was the best investment I've ever made. The wife laughs at me because I've told her if the house
catches on fire I'm going right after that drive and then I'll meet you outside. That bad boy holds my whole FS world on it !!!!!!

vollmey i learned after 10 installs and 10 cpu recovery and hours of sitting with the coffee and the wife being mad for no time being
spent. so i had to invest in that 200gigs my cpu definitely runs good for so far. But let me not talk too soon because im at work and when i get home i might not be able to get on. OH ill be mmmmmaaaaaaaadddddddd

get that alot of times. did you recently install a new hardware. like printer etc etc video card? anything of sort thats considered hardware?
if you did it could be the software needs to updated or redownloaded. The problem is, if you have not reinstalled a new hardware its still
the same problem , but youll really have a hard time trying to figure out which one of your hardware is causing the error. Also did you use
fstweaks to tweak your computer? http://www.fstweaks.com

Yep, my wife uses my last flight sim machine that way there are no incidents and everyone is happy. But what is interesting is she
figured out that if she turns on the external drive it will show up on the network so now she is backing things up on it. Kinda funny
