Hey guys I'm back from Colorado And I am doing research for the issue of Compatibility for Windows 8 and 8.1 running FSX and FS-Passenger x. I use windows 7 and
that took time to fix too. Please read all of this post before you begin and avoid the need to start over again.
In my studies I found the most common issues and what people did to correct them. I will not say I am an expert here but I thought I would try and help those who are
waiting for Dan's Update. Be advised: It is not just an FSP issue. The problem is add-ons like FTX-Global and others. Some people can't even get FSX to run out of the
box Some have controller issues and I found fixes for that too! I will continue to study this beyond what I have looked into so far and If I find more, I will add to this
post.
First, it is wise to always do set-up stages one at a time. In other words ,if you are doing a first time load of FSX and have Acceleration or SP1-SP2, plus add-on's, don't
install them all at once.
1) Installation
Do not install FSX into the Program(x86) file system but create a document folder and name it FSX then place the blank folder on your desktop. You should install and
run FSX from this folder. The reason for this is people were having issues with add-on's and the (x86) folder interfered with UAC( User Account Control).
It is also recommended to always run as administrator which is a good habit to be in.
Once the above steps have been done ( run FSX before installing anything else). Just about 5 seconds of flight is needed.
Assuming that everything works then install Acceleration/ or SP1-SP2 then run the program again to verify operation. This is a good process to use with FSX.
I know some people expect the program should operate without doing all this, but keep in mind the age of FSX (2006) this is 2015!. If the above
process does not work, make sure that you have no add-on's remaining in your PC and you are starting with a clean install. There are so many different systems
and hardware out there, that it makes a one book solution impossible. It is therefore up to you to learn your PC and it's hardware. Make changes if needed. If you
have the Steam Edition of FSX on the same computer there can be interaction
Install the correct version of UIautomationcore.dll version 6.0.6001.18000 or UIAutomationCore.dll version 6.0.5840.16386 in your main FSX folder. To verify what version will work for your OS go to http://www.mediafire.com/download/mi...mationCore.zip . Do not place the UIautomationcore.dll anywhere else but the FSX main folder. Do not do what some are saying on youtube and delete all the UIautomationcore.dll's as this file is needed for your operating system to run correctly. The biggest issue is making sure that you have the correct one installed for FSX .
2) Controller issues
It is recommended that you have a purchased version of FSUIPC installed , then un-check the controller function in FSX allowing FSUIPC to run the controller
which requires set up.
For those who would rather avoid more cost, I did find a video on youtube which fixes the controller problem within windows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?

Once the above has been done and I hope with some success, then install add-on's one at a time always running FSX after each add-on to ensure operation.
Keep in mind issues with drivers as well, Before installing FSX you should take note of your systems hardware and research any known driver issues. By correcting
known problems before an install, you might have a uneventful operation. The key is Pro-active and not Re-active
Well , that's it for now. I will keep monitoring this post and look into any other problems I can find. Please treat this as a first time install post and read all of it before
beginning. A clean install is key
