reducing promotion flying hours

Does anybody know of a way of reducing the amount of flying hrs to recieve a promotion?

I know it'll be un-realistic to do so, but since i began playing with flight sim, I think I am only experienced in around 30hrs flight time, in the
9 or so years I've been playing FS.

I would say 1/10th of the current values would be a realistic figure for me, so saying it took 100hrs to become a 1st captain, it'd take me ten hrs.

The points and hours required for the different ranks don't appear in any of the config files, nor have I seen anything that looks like that inside
the database files. So I presume that data is hardcoded into FsP and you can't change that.

I do know which fields inside of FspDb.db hold the rank, the points and time required to reach the next rank. It might be possible to reduce those
numbers right after you got promoted to achieve the desired effect. However, unless Dan officially publishes the data format of those files, don't ask
where those bytes exactly are and how they are encoded.

Guys, I understand your thinking, sort of. But I would look around the forum a little more before asking for such a blatent cheat. Just a
gentle warning before the others arrive to add their piece. Also, how could you have only 30 hours in 9 years!? Why did you buy the
program in the first place I'm wondering?

Perhaps, you will experience what most of the rest of us have experienced after buying FSPax. We use the simulator a lot more now
because we have a purpose when flying. Best of luck to you as you try to build your pilot up.

p.s. Turn off pilot career mode and then the pilot rank won't matter a bit.

perhaps then I may have under-estimated my experience level in flight sim. Since flight sim 2000 and the invention of the flight planner I have done
many a "short hop" between various airports.

In fs2002 & fs9 however, I've taken this a step further by flying a set of "fictional routes" which I would use in my own "virtual airline" a setup
which is now very real thnx to fspassengers.

tnx to re-installs and two new pc's as well as playing it on a m8's machine I've never kept 1 definitive pilot's logs so I don't know how many hours
I have in the sim total. However, Since buying fs passengers, I can hardly keep myself away from the pc!

each leg is rated by fs9 planner as between 15-30m to fly, but i've now heard that this is wrong as it assumes you r flying at max speed and doesn't
take into accounty taxiing, climbing, descending & traffic patterns

EUROPEAN LEGS (Cant remember some codes)
EGSS-LFPY
LFPY-LUXEMB
LUXE-HAHN
HAHN-OBERPAFHOFFEN
OBER-KLAGENFURT
KLAG-MILAN (linate)

I then return home by reversing the route. One thing I might do is when I get to rome next is to commemorate my upcomming holiday to greece by
flying flying directly from rome to corfu. This for me might be a long leg, but not sure!

I didn't say I endorse the plan or would actively do something to make it happen.

Look at it this way: There will always be script kiddies that get a kick out of using cheat codes and the like. Getting all worked up over that just
isn't worth it. But you can use their desire to make em learn something, like doing math in hex and using binary editors instead of waiting until someone
else figured it all out for them and hands them the canned cheat program.

I certainly didn't forsee that comming! Being accused of becomming a cheat is a reputation I want to avoid, and I didn't realise that asking
a question like this would be resolved by all users labelling me a "cheat" which I am not happy with.

If I knew this would turn out to be the case I wouldn't have bothered posting my question to ask.

I was merely stating my view that I don't fly many hrs and was looking for a way where possible to edit the number of hours required to
gain a promotion for my OWN enjoyment, not to detract from an excellent product.

I guess I'll resort to flying with career mode turned off.

Cheating in a simulation like this is just a matter of personal opinion; I wouldn't worry about it one way or another.

You can fly very well to maximize points; try to make smooth landings for example. You get 100 bonus points for being within the "on time" arrival
time window; this is one of the best bonuses in the simulation. One trick some people do to maximize points is to just fly a cheap throwaway plane
into Baghdad; this isn't really something I'd do myself.

Personally I like career mode, but I'm very bothered by the "C23" bug. Dan needs to fix that one (don't worry, the C23 occurs when you reach the
highest career level).

I must say that I am a little confused here on what you are talking about .
The only thing that comes to my mind is the C ranks that you use flight hours and points to move up.
In the past I have flown with several companys and start at the botom and work my way up.
Several times I have worked up to the C16 level with company's that went out of business.
I am now with a new company and working up again .
The level you get to is only known by you anyway .
The level I get to does not matter any way as I fly here and enjoy flying this program .
If you fly for any V airline that uses this program to report flight hours will have their own rank program.

Precisely. And it is also a matter of personal opinion what to consider cheating. Is flying with anything but maxed out realism settings a cheat? How
many here fly with Gyro drift enabled? What weather settings get someone into the "cheater" category? That list could go on and on.

whats the point in editing your flying hours???
your meant to build ur career by flying real time...
if you wanna do ur stuff fast then you can do this:
start a long flight with a long range plane then
change the simulation rate to fastest..that way you can cover 16 hours of flight time in about 25 to 30 minutes or so
but one thing, you dnt get points the extra points for a long flight so u mite not still get that promotion when you want it.
