Incorrect Flaps -300 points

Just bought my company a pmdg 737-600 first flight in a MEJ sure is a step up from the little Dash8 PSS anyway I went from Calgary (yyc) to Vancouver
(yvr) and after my flight the post flight box comes up and it say unsafe flaps on takeoff or something do we go by what the FMC says or how do we get
the correct flap degree ?

the common flap degree is 5 degrees but you can go higher if you call a mayday CTRL+SHIFT+M

5? I always take-off with 15, and I never get minus points.

You can use 5, or 15. Depends on the runway, weight, and on what performance you want.

Probably you raised the flaps too early; I think you need to be higher than 500 ft AGL before you raise them. The flaps penalty is one you can disable
if it becomes too bothersome, or you fly planes without flaps.

I keep my flaps with a 737 at 2 for atleast 210 ft and I never got a penalty for this

The flaps penalty should be disabled in my view. I hope it is changed in the next version. The concept of a steep penalty for missing an essential
setting is fine, but the flap setting required for take off varies from aircraft to aircraft . The Cessna 172 and Bonanza 36 POHs indicate no flaps
on take off unless short or soft fields; others require flaps (Beech B200 for example) and wont get off the rwy without them. Many checklists simply
say "as appropriate" depending on weight, circumstances etc. Thus the flap penalty like a couple of others, should have been designed to be set in
an aircraft specific way. I don't fly airliners, so it is possible the procedures are more standardized with these. But among light singles, twins,
and turboprops, you have to check the POH. Just my 2 cents

It's sounding like there needs to be a database kept up somewhere that includes these sorts of settings per plane type.

How hard would it be to have a comprehensive database that has the various limits and variables of the various planes and then have FSP take that into
account?

What I mean is, take my Dash-8. I could pick it from a Setup option and FSP would then know what parameters to apply and what penalty limitations are
in effect (5% flaps on take-off) and so forth. It'd be fairly easy to keep the list up to date. Some variations might be applied so that the PSS
Dash-8 has some features that, perhaps, the freeware version doesn't have (or visa-versa) based on what's modeled and what isn't.

The norm is 5 degrees on takeoff, but I use 10 degrees when I have heavier loads for long distance flights. Gotta love that PMDG 737-700 for cross
country. Cruising at FL370 and I can get the FSPassengers fuel left to around 4 hours!
