Food and drink service

Why can't we change the food, drink, etc service from auto to manual during a flight? I flw from KLAX-YSSY with it set to auto, and it only fed them
once, at the beginning of the flight, and later on they all were starving and my flight satisfaction was down to about 20% because of it. I don't see
how it would be cheating to be able to change the setting from auto to manual or vise versa.

You can change this in the setup menu. Once there, go to the crew/gpws menu and you can change it to manual. I use it all the time. I
have never used the auto feature.

Of course you can change it, but not during a flight. That's what Skytrain was asking about.

Oops! If I had read closer---

Your solution is very simple. Just set it to manual BEFORE THE FLIGHT and start the service when you want it to start, as many
times as you want as long it is within the allotted flight time so there will be no penalty. If you have a problem remembering to start the
service, I would suggest including it as a side note in your checklist. If you are doing a short flight, I would suggest starting the service
(bev, meal) sometime after transition altitude (18,000 ft US). If you are doing a long haul (3-4 hrs), you have time to wait and start after reaching altitude, but you may want to go ahead and start the movie just to keep everyone happy. Hope this helps.
