Just today I was flying in to Honolulu (in real life), they shut down one of the runways... it sounded like this, just some memorable excerts
from memory of course. ATC: 27L, continue holding. 27L: We've been holding all day. ATC: Thank you, 69D, hold the Koko Head VOR. 69D: Will hold the Koko Head VOR ATC: Makani-kai 01, please enter class B at or below 400 MK1: At or below 400, MK1. ATC: Mokulea 33 divert from runway 4R to 8L for traffic M33: Uhmmmm, realy? ATC: Yeah, for traffic. M33: Diverting. (This is a major diversion, its 90 degrees left and you essentially fly a TIGHT pattern with a Dash ![]() ATC: 69D, enter Class be and maintain 2000 until downind, then descend at pilots discretion. 69D: Maintain 2000 until downind, then descent at my discretion. (This is a dive on downing with the engine at idle and full flaps with gear down). ATC: 27L, thank you for holding, cleard to NARBY and intercept the ILS runway 4R. 27L: Thank you, cleard to NARBY and will FINALLY intercept the ILS for 4R. Kind of all day like that. Stupid stuff happens in real life too, and a lot more than in the sim. Post Edited ( 06-01-06 12:49 )

Archer, good post. I hear alot of that junk while flying a C208 in the north central region of the US. Last week, while flying KRHI-KMKE with
level 2 thunderstorms to the east of my position, I heard a pilot of a Cessna 421 ask ATC if he could have a "pop-up" clearance. Of course I chuckled at that moment. The guy must've been getting beat up pretty bad in the turbulence. I had to fly race tracks near Appleton,Wi. for an hour before being cleared direct to Badger intersection near MKE....then the chatter cranked up beyond belief! Once I reached Badger, I couldn't believe my ears when tower cleared me to RWY 9R approach....#3 for landing. Most of the time they will have me fly race tracks until I insist I get clearance or else I will run out of gas! Anyway, there's no substitution for real-time ATC and pilot faux pas...I have sure heard my share of them.

I like the delays, when I have some time to spare at home it can make the game very interesting. I['ve never had any problems in paris at
but there my only problem was that it took forever to taxi from my landing runway to the gates and parking. I have MyTraffic and I have it set at 75% traffic. So I'm having fun. Aric

Okay, here's a look at KBOS on a typical morning with 75% traffic running. I'm in the Chautauqua (US Airways Express) E170. This time
it wasn't too bad, as departures and arrivals were on the parallels, so they were split and I didn't have to wait for arriving flights. ![]() ![]() Post Edited ( 06-05-06 17:08 )

Pretty typical traffic, to be sure.

I can strongly recommend it over and above default ATC, sure you will get busy airports but RC4 seems to handle it all very well, no air misses since having this either, even though I've been passed by jets on final a couple of times. ![]() Flying for Landmark Airlines.

Every once in a while on approach the moron ATC clears several incoming aircraft at once and then they all will fly right over you on their
approach. In those cases, it's time to disable the AI traffic temporarily, at least for me... I use Ultimate Traffic at 100% and just love it except for these crowded approaches... The ground delays are part of normal everyday life, so you have to allow extra time for the delay. |
