I was pondering something not too long ago with my CaptainSim C-130. I know these planes are used for many things - humanitarian
flights and rescuing refugees in war torn countries, military personnel transport, research personnel transport, cargo, etc. and I was
thinking, OK I have 4 pax areas in the payload editor. I dont have to use them all, but I can play around with it.
So what I have done is station 1 is crew (up to 4 which I always have and keep at $0) I have flight crew (up to 8 at $0), and I have made
two stations both with the same position in the payload. Station 3 is set as "Refugees" (set in economy and $100 each) and holds up to
42 pax and Station 4 is titled "Researchers" (set in business class and $400 per pax) and holds up to 30 (I figure it could do 42 but
researchers tend to have a lot of baggage and equipment). I have also set my cargo according to specs on Arliners.net to what the C-130
can hold with no additional pax)
Now depending on where I am flying, like Colombia, I haul refugees trying to escape the drug cartels, and less cargo. If I am flying out of
Antarctica, chances are those folks arent refugees, so I keep Refugees at 0 and move the slider for researchers up, as well as cargo up
for their equipment. Sometimes on my Antarctic or Arctic flights I have 0 to 4 or so researchers and mainly cargo, but since researchers
and refugees dont want to sit on top of each other I wont slide both of them up all the way.
Anyone else do this?
