OT: Suggestion to forum moderators about the screenshots thread

I likke a lot browsing the screenshot thread, seeing what you all see, feeling the atmosphere of your flights.

But today, as all pics are stored on the same thread, this thread means a tremendous stream of megabyte transfer 90% useless as we just want to see
the new ones. very long, almost hopeless with 56K connexion on client side. And heavy bandwidth waste on the server's side.

What about opening a screenshot forum ?
That way the visitor can see and browse the pics thread by thread.

As rule (or may be just recommendation is enough)
Limit to 5-6 pics in one thread.
Limit to 800*600 with eventually a link to get the full quality pic ?

10 pix per thread, 800x600 AND max. 200 KB per pic is what I'd suggest.

It's great that you have a LCD screen all over your wall but as long as you don't provide one for everyone who should look at your screenshots, you'd
have to be prepared for a very, very small audience with those dimensions. Kinda defies the puprose of making them publicly available, don't you think?

Usually , web galleries and forum dedicated to images offers a solution quite efficients: the image on the thread is off "raisonable" size, most
often 800x600 and make a link to the full quality pic

The 800*600 make the link to 1600x1200

The advantage is that you keep a fast easy view on the 800X600 and the full quality on the Hi Res pic. Don't forget that a 1280x1024 need a high
compression rate to be under 175 Kb and the highest compression => the lowes quality.

Anyway I am pleased to see the idea getting support and looks forward to see your pics big or small

At SimViation we have a limit of 800 x 600 size under 100kb and no more than 500kb per thread. Works out just fine. Easy to compress
pictures without losing much

go to http://www.simviation.com and check out the past winners of the screenshot contests if you dont believe me. Even with an LCD monitor
compression is a piece of cake if using http://www.irfanview.com to edit size and compression and something like Mgrab to capture. Or
photoshop or PSP#

Check out the freeware and payware screenshots forum as well

200k and anything larger than 800 x 600 isnt really necessary and is nothing more than a drain of resources from someones pocket.
Granted we bought the FSP program (except those who are only using the demo when they should be buying it *grins*)

Images indeed take huge storage space.

But we can (as currently done) store them on vatious free image hosters like photobucket an imageshack. Then, FsPforum would only store the links and
