[Solved] CTD While Accessing Menus - FSPassengersx.dll fault - TWA727 - 23-01-2016
Hello all,
I have scoured up and down, tried every trick and tip I can possibly find to resolve my issue. During a flight in FSX using
FSPax, I'll go to access a menu (for example, ending the
flight) and I get a crash to desktop. The first time this happened, I got the "trusted software" issue where if you pressed
yes, it crashed the game. However, I saw the registry fix on
here and deleted the registry key. However, every time the game crashes mid-flight (which happens every time without failure)
this registry key re-appears and I must go back in and
delete it. I am running FSX-SE with ORBX Global Textures. This happens with any aircraft I have loaded, no matter it PMDG,
Captain Sim, or stock MS planes. I have uninstalled
(rebooted inbetween, yes), reinstalled as administrator, changed the permissions for the folders where FSPax and its
respective files reside, but I just cannot seem to get this issue
resolved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mhhhhh... I made some search, you FSX is in the doomed location "program files"
We'll try some new things in the next days.
Reinstall again and copy/past the logs/install logs here.

Windows 10 64-Bit Home Edition
Intel Core i7 4700HQ @ 2.4Ghz
8 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX860M (4GB VRAM)
500GB SSD (294 available)
I didn't get another registry warning because I didn't attempt to restart FS after it crashed. It had been a long day so I just decided to call it quits after posting here. However, that
registry key re-appeared when I checked for it this morning. Dang registry!
I re-installed as admin once more, and I discovered that it appears Steam may not have been running as admin. I went to check it, and under the properties "Run this program as an
administrator" was unchecked. I'm going to go ahead and try this install, see how things go. I'll report back. Thanks!

The saga continues! Now FS won't load because of a registry problem with FSUIPC (even after deletion of the key). I am going to completely uninstall FS, and install it in the root directory of the hard drive. Then, before I add any add-ons, I'll install FSPAX and report back.

"-WARNING AppCompatFlags could not be checked, sub key doesn't exist or wasn't readable"
Can you check manually and let me know what you see ? (does this key exist etc)
1) Open regedit
2) Goto the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
3) Delete the key "<PathToYourFsX>\\fsx.exe"="$~ RUNASADMIN IgnoreFreeLibrary<FsPassengers.dll>"
In the "layers" part, DELETE ALL the keys that start with your fsx.exe's path and a name of module.
Are you under admin account or limited account on your windows ?

That registry entry is not present at the moment. I made sure it was gone before attempting the install of the new version.
I am running under an admin account. I just finished a fresh install of FSX, and even then had crashing issues with no data stored in Event Viewer. Poor FSPax may just have been reacting to the entire sim going belly up. I believe I may have finally gotten to the root of the problem, FS seems stable for the moment. Doing a few more test flights then I will install FSPax and report back with any additional
crashes. Thanks for the help so far.

Hey Dan,
Thanks for all the help with this. Turns out, it was a problem with memory issues within FS itself. I have gotten it to a stable point as of right now with FsPax installed & running.
Haven't tried any other add-ons yet, but I am going to take them one at a time and see what works and what doesn't.
Thanks for an awesome product. Been using it for years now--still just as fun as the 1st day.

Sure!
What seemed to completely get rid of this problem for me was editing the .cfg with the following:
Firstly, I added "HIGHMEMFIX=1" under the [GRAPHICS] section in the .cfg
Also, adding [BUFFERPOOLS] Poolsize=0 to the .cfg (this might not work well for graphics cards with 1gb or less VRAM)
Finally, I limited the frames to 25FPS and turned down the autogen scenery and draw distances in FS settings.
With all of these in action, the CTD problems ceased.
If you're having problems with a CTD or Out of Memory problem on a vanilla FSX, try these one by one after letting FSX build a new .cfg file.
Of course CTD errors with FSX are numerous and have lots of possible solutions, maybe this will help someone at least rule something out.

I'm surprised FSX-SE isn't optimized better than this. I didn't realize you had to put the usual tweaks in the -SE .cfg. Interesting.

I read somewhere on a fsx steam forum that you no longer need the usual tweaks as they have already been added. Not sure about the
bufferpool one but highmemfix and affinitymask are reportedly taken care of. I know from experience FSX:SE is far more stable than my out of
the box deluxe version which indicates something has been altered.
Removing FSX:SE from my system and reinstalling initially didn't cure my problem which was the same as above, as uninstalling it didn't
completely remove it. After uninstalling from the control panel and uninstalling the simconnects I deleted all things FSX. This includes the
folder in steamapps/common and the one in user/appdata/roaming/microsoft, (paths may be wrong).
