Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 25-08-2005 ok I need some very serious help for you guys, this is my problem..... My Flight Sim keeps shutting down when I am on approach to land usally after I have sat at the computer for 8 plus hours. This is what I have done so far I have reinstalled FS2004 Reinstalled Queen of the sky. When this problem is happening I usally have my FSP up with its blue box Radar 3 up and running I have ASV minmized and FSBuild 2 at the bottom of the screen with the main part of Radar. I have never had this problem before I got Radar3 so I am not sure if that is the problem or not but anyone that can help PLEASE Thank you so much Joel Re: Serious Help - silo - 25-08-2005 Hi Joel, just a quick question. Before installing a fresh copy o f FS9, did u remove the left over folder after the uninstall of the old one? I mean C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 folder? Your problem sounds a lot like a bgl duplicate problem to me. There is an utility that scans and deletes duplicate bgls. (doesn't necessarily mean that it is though!) Also did u install FS9 patch right after installing FS9? If you think Radar 3 is the problem, is there any chance you can try and run the sim without it and see what happens? (I don't know Radar3). Post Edited ( 08-25-05 07:20 ) Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 25-08-2005 Yes I uninstalled everything except all the files because of how many files I have on my system and want to keep Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 25-08-2005 Ok guys I think I have the problem Narrowed down but need help from those that own this product. I believe it is Radar Contact 3.1 that is doing it. I am fine from the take off to almost landing its on the decent my fs will go poof. So if anyone that uses Radar contact has had a problem please let me know what you did to fix the problem ![]() Joel And thank god its not my FsP that was my first step and was able to rule out that Joel Re: Serious Help - Er!k - 25-08-2005 Maybe a little bit off-topic, but to improve overall performance, there is a tool called PCI Latency Tool. With this tool you can adjust the latency of your Graphics Card (also if it is AGP), which will cause an increase in frame rates. You can download the tool via the link below: http://www.esi-pro.co.kr/spboard/board.cgi?id=FAQ&action=download&gul=36 Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 25-08-2005 yeah but that isn't my problem I am fine for the first 7 and half hours in flight and my graphic's are fine its when I start the approach that just kills my system and shuts me down with no warning or anything I lose the top tool bar and all Re: Serious Help - silo - 25-08-2005 Are you using the latest version of FSUIPC? You mentioned you reinstalled FS2004 but I see on RC website that this software is only compatible with FS version up to 2002... Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 25-08-2005 Yes Silo, I have been in contact with the designer of Radar and loaded everything he told me for FS2004 I already have the latest regustered copy of FSUIPC so I didn't touch that. He said "he never had this problem with anyone else before" so I guess I am a new one for him I am trying to think of every else. Re: Serious Help - olseric - 26-08-2005 Just a thought for you... On very long flights, your computer is constantly working....I mean, CONSTANTLY. Updating the scenery constantly, processing the flight dynamics, etc, etc. Unless you have a computer that was either A) Custom Built or B) Self-Built by someone that knows what they're doing, you could have a heat issue. You would probably not notice this as a sudden crash but possibly a slow loss of frame rates eventually leading to an FS or even PC Crash. Simple fixes: 1. Install case fans. 2. Upgrade the power supply. Maybe what I'm saying isn't applicable in your case, but good information to know anyway. ![]() Re: Serious Help - jboweruk - 26-08-2005 Did the Queen run okay before?? Have you done long flights with her before installing RC3 without any issues? Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 26-08-2005 I am going to try all the fixes today or tomorrow the Radar people gave me ideas and settings to try and yes I was able to fly the queen before this happend I also now have an extra fan blowing at my computer which is a New Sony Vaio laptop and has all the latest and greatest fans and stuff on it. I bought it fully loaded. Joel Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 27-08-2005 Well I was able to get with in 12 miles this time of Landing before my whole system froze. Still having the problem and now I am totally unsure what to do. I heard three large dongs the kind you get when you computer is doing something wrong but I am unable to view or see what these error messages can be. The only thing I am able to do is hold my power button down and shut down the system. It is locking my system and not letting me do anything after this takes I have now posted in the forum on AVsim to see if anyone else may have this problem but other then that I am totally at a loss. Joel Re: Serious Help - snakeboy - 27-08-2005 That happened to me years ago under Fs2002, it turned out it was faulty ram. That was with a computer that I bought, now I build my own and no problems. Re: Serious Help - FlyBoy2 - 27-08-2005 hmmm I just upgraded my Ram not that long ago so I am sure its not that and I did have one sucessful flight when I first got it I am wondering if the addon airports that I have is having an affect on it? |
