Codeshare flights? - Aviapartner - 05-07-2007

Hi, everybody!

I'm new to FS in general so i was doubting to buy a add-on, and this was the 1st one i bought, and i can safely say that if all add-ons are
like this (in terms of quality) i'm going to like FS more and more! Anyway, my question is, i've started a Cathay Pacific in economic mode,
but i was wondering if it is possible to have a sort of codeshare flightsystem; i.e a flight KJFK-KATL operated by Delta, a Delta Aircraft, but
you're American Airlines and you're flying the flight.IS this possible and how? My apologies if it's explained confusingly, or grammatical
errors, i'm Belgian and it's 22:41 here.

Hi "Avia",

It all depends on what you're trying to achieve.

You can only operate one FsP company at a time, but as you can choose your own flight number (and aircraft), you could easily have a Delta aircraft
perform a flight for.. Cathay.

One thing I've done in teh past to simulate a multi-faceted company like that is to create a parent company and then multiple pilots.
Instead of giving the pilot a human name, I give them an airline name and their banner reflects that. Each time I fly with an aircraft that
belongs to one of the affiliate companies, I use the corresponding pilot to fly the flight. I quit doing it because after having four different
companies, I kept selecting the wrong pilot and not discovering it until I was deep into the flight. I had to restart flights too many times so
I abandoned the concept. If someone were more thoughtful than me in their preflight set-up, they could take this idea and run with it.

Hmm, "Avia"... I like the ring of it!

That's what i'm going for, the question is, if you have economic mode set (so you buy planes), can you still do a codeshare, meaning you just use the plane once, and get rid of it? Do you need to be multiple companies for that or such?Is there a online mode for that? (i'm going on a limb there seeing as their is only 1 man who created this, which surprised me)

Valoran, that's also a way of doing it, i can see how it got confusing, if you keep switching "companies".

(I chose Cathay btw because Hong Kong is like the center of Asia, and i'm not fond of "my" Brussels Airlines, SN Brussels, Sabena,
whatever you want to call it. :D People are confused by it, i hear people still saying Sabena, SN and the likes.)

I had four named companies two were charter, one a cargo, and one a regional scheduled service all flying under a parent
conglomerate. It just got to be too much to manage with the limited time I have to devote to the hobby. I still have it active in the database
in case I ever want to go back to it but I've restarted with a simpler system now.
