Sound cutting out - andrewclaridge - 19-09-2005

Hi

I've been trying the demo and love it! However it is causing my sound to completely cut out, after a short time (even if not on an
fspassengers flight). I have uninstalled the demo and find I have no problems now. I have tried pressing "Q" as suggested in earlier
forum answers that I searched, but with no success. Can anyone help me as I'd love to purchase the full version but I can't with this
problem. My soundcard is a Realtek AC97.

Many thanks
Andrew Claridge

Never heard of your soundcard. Try testing your sound with the different "notches" in DirectX Diagnostics (START-RUN-dxdiag). From
here, choose the sound acceleration tab, and adjust downwards. Some people report that the sound issues are fixed when turning
down, or completely disabling hardware acceleration.

Good luck!

Realtek AC97 is 'on board on a lot of motherboards', certainly those by MSI. I have this also and don't have any particular problems
running FSP. Sometimes I find when I switch to another window and then back to FS9 I have no sound, but hitting the pause key twice
always cures it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried them tonight and unfortunatly they have not helped. But thanks for trying!

Why not buy a new sound card? Most on-board OEM cards are junk anyway, and with the price of PC hardware so cheap these days, it's
really worth it to upgrade! There's no need to buy a $100 card... even some of the $20 cards are better than alot of the onboard junk!

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks Brad - that's my next step! I do have a soundcard in an older computer that I could try. I was just concerned it might cause
conflicts with the existing onboard soundcard if I installed it - but it's worth a shot I guess!

Thanks again for taking the time to respond!

You can run both soundcards in fact but to rule out any issues better disable the realtek in your bios

Re: Sound cutting out - pegase - 20-09-2005

I had somehing like this last Sunday;

I paused the flight.
Launched the TV to watch the news
The TV program crashed on exit.
I Resumed to the flight which was totally silent, tried pause, Q... no avail and finished the flight as deaf pilot.

Finally opened the sound mixer icon on bottom right ; "something" caused all sound channels to be muted. just had to uncheck the box to
fix the problem...

Hopefully it helps ?

The onboard card can be disabled in BIOS. Other than that, I've got an older PC (about 3 years old), and use the latest technology in
Soundcards (The Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum).
