Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 10-09-2005 Hi all, Installed newest version and running completley standard and it keeps crahsing to black screen. It sounds like it is trying to access hard drive. All virus programs and anti spy turned off when running sims so don' t think it can be that. Any help would be appreciated. Mountie Re: Keeps crahsing out! - SWAFO - 10-09-2005 Are you using a demo, or the purchased version? Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 12-09-2005 Yes bought it the day it came out... please don't get me wrong I love the program and don't want to thing of flying without it... Re: Keeps crahsing out! - ChrisWB - 12-09-2005 I am not sure if I have the same problem, I installed the latest update on my purchased version, running FS2004 from drive F, on running the update Program I browsed to drive :F/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9 which the update program accepted and started installing the update, after processing files to 100% the update stopped processing and left me with a blank update screen with the exit option the only available key to use. On loading FS2004 and running FSPassengers it came up with the update message saying an update was available, it would seem the installation of the update has not worked. So I am now in a situation where I have updated my installation but it does not think I have. If I try running FSPassengers it crashes saying I do not have a purchased product, even though I have entered my purchase code in again. I obviously do not want to uninstall FSP as I will lose all my flights to date. I did save FSP files prior to installing the update, how do I get back to a system prior to the update, I have tried copying the saved files back into FSP, entering the purchase code but it still crashes saying I do not have a valid purchase product........................ Any thoughts would be appreciated, but I fear I might lose my flights with this problem? Re: Keeps crahsing out! - SWAFO - 12-09-2005 Try mailing Dan about the issue... he can help in this department. Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 12-09-2005 Error code is ppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.1.0.40901 ModName: gdiplus.dll ModVer: 5.1.3102.2180 Offset: 0003ab4a I have re-installed everything for the third time including fs9. Not sure what it is... Regards, Peter Re: Keeps crahsing out! - SWAFO - 12-09-2005 Sounds like something with the Gdiplus.dll file. I did a quick Google search, and found this website: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?gdiplus Perhaps you can re-download that file there. Not sure if it will help. Hell, I'm not even sure what this file is! Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 12-09-2005 Cheers for the help mate... much appreciated will try it right away.. Mountie Re: Keeps crahsing out! - SWAFO - 12-09-2005 Let me know how it helps! Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 12-09-2005 lol.. same flight almost the same place and the things crashed again. I did manage to download a fresh dll file but it didn't seem to help. Still the same error.. AppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.1.0.40901 ModName: gdiplus.dll ModVer: 5.1.3102.2180 Offset: 0003ab4a I'm wondering if what Dan is talking about in the "Crashing to desktop" thread is what is happening to me? Re: Keeps crahsing out! - DanSteph - 13-09-2005 FsP don't use at all GDIplus dll. Anyway my thought on this: the archive of the last FsP you downloaded was corrupted and didn't upgrade fully hense the "update" message that you still get wich come from an old DLL. My advice: try to download again FsP, (try the ZIP version) then install it again in the same folder. try to install on a fresh booted computer as XP sometime "hold" file that were in use (case if you ran Fs9 prior to install the update) Anyway before doing any installation COPY the folder FsPassengers/database at a safe place, it contain all your flight/company data. LEt me know if it helped... Dan Re: Keeps crahsing out! - ChrisWB - 13-09-2005 Ok, Mountie sent me an e-mail suggesting I de-install FSP after saving my database, re-install the updated FSP, re-install my data-base, re-enter my access code, all with virus checking "OFF". Bingo it worked, I have successfully had a full FSP flight. So for existing users the update process is: Switch off virus checking Save your database as recommended to a temporary directory (important to do this otherwise you will lose your personal data) de-install FSP using the de-installer supplied install new downloaded FSP copy saved database into FSP directory from temporary directory start FS2004 enter your access code into FSP enter FSP manager to get your aircraft initialized (otherwise it will report you have no aircraft) then happy flying........................... Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 16-09-2005 Glad that helped you.. I still have to get mine working.. Let you know what happens, Mountie Re: Keeps crahsing out! - Mountie - 17-09-2005 Hi Dan, Did everything you mentioned got one flight in and then blam!!!!! crahsed again... Any suggestions?
