Reverse trhust beyond 60 knots. - VNAS_007 - 20-08-2005 Hi there. I was thinking oof something today when I made the genious thing called "powerback" and got 300 points of penalty for using thrust reverse beyond 60 knots. I know that in real life it is common to use this methode to get back from gate or stand. But in FSPax it is prohibited due to engine damage reasons. Is there any way of turning this feature of? Re: Reverse trhust beyond 60 knots. - SWAFO - 20-08-2005 You can disable the reverse thrust penalty in the more_option.cfg file that's located in the FSPassengers/config directory of your copy of FS9. Actually, these days powerbacks aren't very common at all (they were widely used with Turbojet aircraft about 15-20 years ago). With the advent of the high by-pass turbofan, powering back from the date can be quite dangerous, not only to the engines, but also the individuals inside the terminal and the groundcrew. Standard procedure is a pushback now. Some aircraft occasionally will still powerback from the gate... most notably these are the turbojet aircraft such as the 737-200, etc. I disabled the reverse thrust penalty in my copy of FS9, simply because realistically we will occasionally use reverse thrust below 60KTS when landing... search the forums if you'd like a more in-depth explanation of why it's realstic to have the penalty disabled. Re: Reverse trhust beyond 60 knots. - ILikePlanes - 21-08-2005 how do you reverse thrust? Re: Reverse trhust beyond 60 knots. - Jetflyer - 21-08-2005 The option should be to have reverse thrust allowed below 60kts on specific aircraft, i.e, T-tail planes with rear engines like the Boeing 727, DC-9, CRJ-700 etc... because these have no safety issue concerning FOD as far as I'm aware in reality, and use low-bypass turbofans. So an option is to have a system in FsP detecting your plane as a T-tail w/rear engines by type (727, DC-9) and then enabling reverse thrust under 60kts but not on other planes like 737-777 and Airbus's etc... Right now, as it stands it's either disable all, or disable none. |
