I need more time.. - Oliv-air - 31-07-2005 Hi all I just bought this software and i'm trying to deal with it. First i found was a ctd - i guess it came from a softwareincompatability between fsp and the groundhandling-gauges named: rcb_groundhandling. Second and more important for me is the following: I don't have enough time for flightplanning. I plan my flights with FOC. FOC needs PAX, Cargo etc. for calculating climbsteps, fuel needed based on WX-Data and so on. 20 minutes is the max fsp is delivering after the PAX were calculated. Is there a possibility to stop fsp after calculating the PAXs - for say about 60 minutes at least or, and this would be even better, to set a departure time for the actual flight? Flightplanning is very time intensive for flying long routes. You need to check weatherdata, EROPS/ETOPS Data and so on.. 20 Minutes are under no circumstances enough - i guess, i will be penalized every time i fly... Great would be, the Amount of Cargo and PAX could be generated long before the flight starts. Third and last thing: How about saving a timetable on my created airline? Flt-Number, ICAO From, ICAO In, Time off and Time in (Block, Gate to Gate) would be grate. I believe, the program could more exactly calculate if im late or not. In every other way: nice Program - Thanks! Rgds. Oliver LSZH Re: I need more time.. - eazy - 31-07-2005 that's indeed eazy: - open FsP menu, choose Start Flight - splash screen opens (if not disabled) telling you how many are willing to fly with you - click "ok" - setup screen opens - there's the number of pax again - write it down - click Cancel - do your planning - next time you select Start Flight you'll have the same number of passengers waiting (never seen that change after cancelling) - Off you go. Post Edited ( 08-01-05 00:26 ) Re: I need more time.. - SWAFO - 31-07-2005 I can get in the cockpit, with the flight ALREADY planned, and be pushing back in 10-15 minutes (max)... note that this is in FS9, not RL... lol. Take care of the bulk of flight planning prior to the flight (as we do in the real world), and that way, when you load up FS, you'll only have your flows and checklists to complete, and you're ready to go. You shouldn't need more than 20 minutes. Re: I need more time.. - Oliv-air - 01-08-2005 Thanks Eazy - i did not know that this is no random count. I guess i'll have to do so. Its a workaround, but i'll help for now. Brad: Sorry, but your answer sounds a bit silly to me. I really don't care how much faster i could, or i should be in the virtual sky and even less how fast you are. Flightplanning is part of my hobby, flying long range flights with large airliners in fs. For Flightplanning i'm using semi professional software which needs passenger and cargo amounts as an input factor for calculating the ZFW, Climbsteps and so on - i'm perfectly sure you know all about this - so i stop here telling more of this known process. Be assured, i know very precise, that this is not RL. I'm a graduated software engineer in RL and not a Pilot for any Airline.. So if this is a criteria, then you should not talk about software engineering and i should not even think about flying an airliner myself. I only have got a PPL-A license for flying wich i believe is not enough to fly an md11 - thank god, the fs helps me out here and its great fun. So i spend some money for this hobby - in fsp i spent my money too. I asked the developpers of fsp to insert a new field "Departure time" which would be a perfect solution for this issue and i would greatly appreciate it if it could be done - if not, then i'll take the option Eazy told me in his post and its not ok for me but i can live with it. thx. Oli Re: I need more time.. - SWAFO - 01-08-2005 What I was suggesting would be more geared toward the "professionalism" you attempt to reach in your flight planning. Flights are planned LONG before departure... am I recommending you do this? Not necessarily, however wouldn't it be easier to plan the flight prior to getting in the flight simulator? Even minutes before? Simply do what you need to do to get ready for your flight (your planning methods), THEN start up the sim. This way, you won't have any problem with getting the aircraft ready in time for departure. Just my 2 cents. Re: I need more time.. - walterp - 01-08-2005 Some people need to get out more. I saw a documnetary once where a guy used to dress as a pilot and had built his own cockpit, he even had a pretend phone to tell his pretend passengers they were pretending to take off. I enjoy realism as much as anyone BUT at the end of the day it is a game - and a damn good one at that. Re: I need more time.. - nevinch - 01-08-2005 LOL........that sounds like a great idea for Halloween!!! ![]() |
