The lights penalties.. ok i'm pissed already. - smartboy4 - 26-07-2005 My 5th flight with FsP and it's the usual penalties i got for all 5 flights. FsP says i have landing lights and strobes on while at parking ramp. This is what i've done. NAV on, ALL OFF while waiting for pax to board. Push back finished. Turned on beacon and engine start up. Taxi to runway and at the holding point, Strobes and Landing lights on. After landed, slowing down to 60kts, strobes and landing lights off.. and i just continued my way back to the gates. WTF is wrong ? Re: The lights penalties.. ok i'm pissed already. - jboweruk - 26-07-2005 It's on the hold point you went wrong, try this: at hold point request takeoff, once granted turn off the music and move over the line, strobe and Landing Lights on. Once down, slow to the turnoff, strobes & Landing Lights off, music on, exit runway. That yellow line I think seems to be the key. There are known light-problems with some planes (Cessna 172, Learjet, PSS Airbus, ...), because they have combined light switches (e.g. BCN/STROBE) or they don't use the FS-internal "switch" for Landing-lights or strobes. I think it rather checks if you have takeoff clearance (or at least a "taxi to position and hold" order) to determine if you turn on LL and strobes at the right time. BTW according to Brad that's what they do in RL too - turn on strobes and LL when they get T/O clearance, NOT when reaching the holding point. This usually only occurs when cleared for takeoff, and landing, and I can't offer advice on flying in the Caribbean. I'm familiar with what you're talking about. It's just that normally we won't use those runways, or we won't fly to those airports in the first place. SWA is known for flying to off-the-grid airports. Take ISP for example! Re: The lights penalties.. ok i'm pissed already. - nem - 27-07-2005 And just to add something from "the other side" of FSP light penalties: just last flight I thundered down the runway (yeah right, in a C421 - ok, so I more like whistled down the runway) and halfway to T/O noticed that I had forgotten LL and strobes... turned them on right then and continued the flight. Just pointing out that it's an "off-the-grid" airport. How many people have heard of it? You and me? lol. I'm actually starting to like it a little better... swung by there twice just recently... love the STAR they set me up with both times (don't remember the name of it. Flies over JFK before getting vectored to final). Re: The lights penalties.. ok i'm pissed already. - smartboy4 - 28-07-2005 Anyway guys, it all worked :D Don't get the penalties anymore ![]() Re: The lights penalties.. ok i'm pissed already. - 737-700 Next Generation Pilot - 23-08-2005 This is what i do: NAV light on while getting IFR clearence After push back set parking brake turn on Beacon start engines call for taxi turn the Taxi lights on wait @ the hold short line if they tell me to hold shot if ATC tells me to taxi into position and hold i do that once they say cleaed for take off i turn off thetaxi lights, turn on landing lights, and strobes in real life if pilots are told to taxi into position and hold they dont turn on strobes or landing lights untill there cleared 4 takeoff! Well thats my procedues of lights! |
