Re: new maps (screenshots) - Robjos - 07-04-2005

Looks fantastic,
I am pretty sure the maps are public domain, they are widley used in Orbiter (e.g. Jim William's hi res earth set).

Rob

BTW - can you change the distance readout from km to miles?

Re: new maps (screenshots) - DanSteph - 07-04-2005

I need to be sure Orbiter is freeware so it have a "non commercial" license
this is not the case for FsP... From what I have read in somes forums it's public
domain anyway mean free use for both license but I need a 100% sure answer.

Sure, this is in the FAQ: if your international option are in "system us" (imperial)
in Fs2004 all the display of FsP are also in imperial (IE: lbs/miles etc etc)

Dan,

I'm happy to deliver you the information about NASA's copyright:

http://www.nasa.gov/audience/formedia/features/MP_Photo_Guidelines.html

"If the NASA material is to be used for commercial purposes, especially including advertisements, it must not explicitly or implicitly convey
NASA's endorsement of commercial goods or services. If a NASA image includes an identifiable person, using the image for commercial
purposes may infringe that person's right of privacy or publicity, and permission should be obtained from the person."

This paragraph talk by itself...

Re: new maps (screenshots) - Airliner - 30-03-2006

Dang, I'm a bit late with this I guess. Smile

Anyway, I have a CD with all these maps already on it. Too bad I didn't know earlier - I could have sent it to you. Hunappy

Re: new maps (screenshots) - Drew - 30-03-2006

Well get cracking airliner.... i expect lots of new maps being uploaded into the 'more download' section soon lol

Re: new maps (screenshots) - Airliner - 31-03-2006

Ha! It's not that - the maps that are already in FSP - They aren't copyright protected. I have a CD with the whole world on it - same as
what's in FSP now. I could have saved the trouble of contacting people about licensing, etc.

Oh well.

Dan,

Nice, perhaps you should include them directly into the next version's package.
