Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - XM DUDE - 18-01-2009 I haven't tried it yet as I have to get a new copy of it.. Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - SkyAirWorld - 19-01-2009 A number of people here use the PMDG MD11 with FSP, So I presume it workds quite well ![]() I shall be purchasing it soon ![]() Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - XM DUDE - 19-01-2009 I garuentee you will love the MD-11, there is a learning curve to it as it is different than the Boeing aircraft. Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - Joeflyer - 19-01-2009 How can you gurantee it if you haven't already tried it,XM? ![]() Speaking from experience, I CAN gurantee you both will enjoy it. Of course I have the FS9 version. Money well spent! Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - DSW334 - 20-01-2009 I totally agree with Joe! Money well spent! Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - Goose - 20-01-2009 The PMDG MD-11 is one of my favorite add-ons for FSX. The only issue i have run into so far is opening the doors to load passengers. You have to use Shift-E to open the doors, then use the CDU to visually open the doors. This is a wonderful addon and is worth every penny! Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - HB-100 - 20-01-2009 Both MD11 and FSPX are really great products but to me it seems that FSPx does not run that well with the MD11. The door issue is the smallest problem and there is well a work around.. But it seems to me that it has issues with the lights and the fuel. I got penalty for all the lights..wanted to verfy it today that its indeed the incompatibility and not a fault of me but then I had my first CTD that seems to be triggered by FSPX because it happend on the ok button. I assume it has to do with the fuel. The MD11 fuel and the FSPX fuel system seesms to bites each other. edit to add: there is also the flashing compas or other instruments in the FSPx mini windows... Post Edited ( 01-20-09 21:26 ) Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - MannyK - 21-01-2009 i just got my copy of the md-11... and i can barely take it off the ground ![]() i read a little of the manual... and still.. its too hard ![]() Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - HB-100 - 21-01-2009 ..you dont need to read the manual.. do it my way..press every button!! ![]() jokeing... but i really do learn the most thing that way..by simple try it out. The most trouble about takeing off with the MD11 for me was to figure out that trim thing.. the voice was all time calling stabilizer stabilizer...!! You can take off without setting it correct but then the plane is heavy to lift and uses a lot mor rwy..so you better set it.. To do this in the VC there is the 'elevator' trim wheel.. black-white stripped. Now you have to move it with left mouse click and hold or right mouse click on hold for a short tiem and at the same time look at the instrument where the lift point is shown on a shematic plane side view. You have to adjust that lift point in the middle of the green line. The problem is taht you can not see that instrument without adjusting the view and so you have to look up to the instrument and down to the elevator trim in multiple steps. But before you can do this you should set some thing sin FMC.. in minimum mit what flaps you plan to take off. Here a quickstart help: 1) ctrl-E sto start the engines (ok i know its not the nive way to start it... but its a quick start)..then check iverhead pannel if close to all swicthes are black (automatic) and not showing off or manual. 2) In FMC turn the white button to make it light up (or was this wilco A320?) 3) eneter take off and destination airport 4) enter V1,Vr,V2 speed (take 130,150,170 as example) and most importand flaps 15.. I dont know in what menu anymore but you will find it. The flaps youhave to set for the stabilizer trim i believe. 5) Set autobreak switch on take of (that switch is right above the thurster levelers) difficlut to come by in the VC when the leveler is on full power, 6) set the flaps to 15. 7) set the trim 8) realease teh parking breaks 9) check the status that all is fine ..there is a status button somewhere in the middle console and then you go.. for autopilot remember to pull the altitude selector button . probabily even twice (wilco A320 requires 2 short pulls to activate) if its night you need to turn the dome button in the overhead pannel to see the instruments. The plane as a surprising lot and different lights you can adjust and lightens the cockpit and pannel different. Once you get used to that aircraft is just great.... The only negative point is the VC cockpit . You sit too close on the instrument in my opinion. The wilco A320 VC is much better in this point. just the correct distance to have a good view of instrument-cockpit and outside. Post Edited ( 01-21-09 14:43 ) Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - Joeflyer - 21-01-2009 I do the same thing, HB....press all buttons during a test flight to see if everything works properly. The FMC wasn't too difficult to figure out. Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - Goose - 21-01-2009 I believe that the lights on the PMDG MD-11 are not compatible with FsPX so you will probably need to just disable the light penalty. Kind of a bummer but i still love this plane. Very true about the trim, if you dont set the trim your probably not going to get off the ground...and you cannot load fuel using FsPX, you have to use the loading manager that came with the MD-11. The best quick start in my opinion is to do the training flight and follow the procedures. This will help you learn the basics of the aircraft and will guide you through a full auto land. Then as HB-100 said just start pushing buttons and you will soon learn what does what and which buttons you should def not hit lol. Re: Will FS passengers work well with the PMDG MD-11? - SkyAirWorld - 21-01-2009 Probably buying this tomorrow, give her a run on Friday Night...
