Not a question, just a confession - kaleun - 17-12-2006

I planned a short flight on my little aspiring airline, IFR KAPA to KCOS, planned at 9000ft on the 182. The morons at ATC kept ordeing me up to 12000 ft. By the
time all is said and done, my passengers were screaming from lack of oxygen, and I was really getting annoyed Rant I kept requesting lower altitudes, but was
dened. Then it dawned on me ;baaa: CANCEL IFR and go VFR with flight following;Rolleyes
By the time I landed, my pilot had -800 points. He has now flown several long perfect trips, and is still -400 and condemned to fly the Bravo for the next decade or
so!

If you can just slightly modify the payload model using the FsP payload model editor, you can make the plane pressurized.

Or you can just not use the default ATC's "IFR" system.

if ATC tells me to do something completely stupid i just ignore them untill they terminate their services

Re: Not a question, just a confession - kaleun - 17-12-2006

A pressurized 182? Who would have thunk it?
I thought about that, but it wouldn't be realistic.
Maybe I can get a Centurion sim or a Piper Malibu

Re: Not a question, just a confession - Ceemosp - 17-12-2006

I agree with you Ryan...
ATC told me to turn over the dead engine (crosswind from the live engine's direction) onto final. Where on earth did they learn that. IRL it's
up to pilots descretion after he declared an emergency which way he is going to land, and where and how........
The same when you come into an airport that is situated in mountaneous terrain. FS-ATC doesn't stick to the procedures at all and will
dump you out of 10.000ft and clear you when you are 6 miles out...how one is supposed to do that remains MS' secret.

Alternatively one could use RC4 which is WAY better Smile

Carsten

Are the voices really robotic or slow? That's what kept me from buying it when it first came out, but I heard it got updated.

I'm also very interested in alternate ATC; the stock ATC in MSFS2004 (and possibly in FSX too since i doubt it changed) is the most
annoying thing on the flights. I try to use realistic procedures in the sim but Microsoft's ATC is hardly possible to use once you use add-
on planes (particularly FMC equipped ones) & FSPassengers.

Vegas
Q1. Real voices and many different accents Smile
Q2. Install it on your 2nd harddrive or via WideFS on the network - otherwise it slows your system or rather - it reacts slow.

Dave
RC4 is what you want to get. Starting from little things, such as actually calling flightstation, or local centers, clearance for pushback and
engine starts, void clearances after a certain amount of time - to things such as a vast selection of different approaches and
corresponding procedures that actually work.

Carsten

Sorry, didn't see that part Smile

I never use ATC anymore nowadays; if I ram into a large 747 on final, so be it Wink

Re: Not a question, just a confession - kaleun - 17-12-2006

RC4?

Cool. If he mails to APO addresses, I might be able to get it early next year.

Sounds good - I'm reading the Avsim review right now, and thinking about ordering it. I'm going to read the pdf manual a bit first (available
at JDTLLC website), but it definitely seems to be a decent add-on, I'm so tired of MS ATC that I lately either don't bother with it at all, or
ignore it once the things get out of hand. Thanks for good tip!

Re: Not a question, just a confession - Ceemosp - 18-12-2006

figure this:
RC4 atc => "Skyservice (that's the company callsign I use) please descent to 12.000ft now. I need you there in 30 miles or before."
or
"Skyservice, cleared to FL190 to own discretion"
or
"Skyservice, please maintain 210 knots until passing LISSU" (STAR LISSU 1 approach)

and the VERY BEST

If you run it on a network (like I do), the fs9 pc plays all ambient sounds via speakers and ATC is played through headphones by the pc
running RC4. How real is that Smile Smile Smile

In short => "McD Slogan"

Carsten

So "you're lovin' it", eh?

Methinks it's time I take a serious look at RC4, then...
