Building a fleet - crash_continental - 28-06-2005

My apologies if this has been covered before...

I know that you can buy various airplanes and that you add a certain 'paint' version of that aircraft. My question is: Can you buy the
same 'paint' more than once?

Here's what I'm thinking...
Say I'm flying several routes within the U.K., all of which I fly with the Flight One ATR 72-500. I would like to use the same aircraft type on
each route (e.g. 5 daily routes plied by 5 different aircraft), as you would often see in the real world [all in the BA paint scheme, or one of
my own]. I know this isn't strictly supposed to be an airline simulation game and that you only get an 'income' from planes in your fleet.
But I would like to gain my 'income' using a fleet of say, 5 ATRs, after I build up enough cash to own them. Is this possible, or would I
have to make 5 different repaints under distinct names?

Thanks...

stricly speaking FsP just care about the name of the aircraft (wich often contain the livery)
as showed in the "title" in aircraft.cfg
in the case you mention you may simply copy the same section
again in the aircraft.cfg with only a litle change in the title name but the same
livery.

example:

[fltsim.1]
title=Boeing 737-400 A Continental
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="737-400"
ui_variation="Continental"

[fltsim.2]
title=Boeing 737-400 B Continental
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="737-400"
ui_variation="Continental"

in this case you would be able to buy two aircraft with the same livery:
Boeing 737-400 A Continental
Boeing 737-400 B Continental

of course you can do whatewer:
Boeing 737-400 West line Continental
Boeing 737-400 East line Continental

hope it help ?

Re: Building a fleet - crash_continental - 28-06-2005

Yes, thank-you, that does answer my question. So, from your example you should buy 'Continental A' and then 'Continental B'...

So what would happen if you tried to buy 'Continental A' twice? Or would this owned aircraft already appear in a 'hanger' like category and
not be for sale?

Re: Building a fleet - DanSteph - 28-06-2005

You can't buy "continental A" twice FSP will say that you own this aircraft already
(and you will see it in the FSP hangar already)

Also the "buy dialog" allow you only to buy the aircraft that you are "flying with"
(your current aircraft) not to pick aircraft in a list...

So to buy an aircraft you must first select it in Fs2004 than click "buy current aircraft"
in the "company manager", then pick another one then click "buy current..."

Should not be to much a pain as we don't buy $200 millions aircrafts every day... Smile

(see button "buy current" at right bottom)

Re: Building a fleet - crash_continental - 28-06-2005

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand.

I assumed that if you buy an aircraft, then it goes into a hangar and you can fly it at any time. When it is not in use, it makes some
nominal fee for your airline. Is this not the case? Am I misunderstanding some fundamental point of the program?

Thanks...

mhhhh...that might be my explaination that suck...

that's it, it goes into the FsP "Company aircraft" that you can see on the previous screenshots
FsP will then allow you to fly with this aircraft at anytime because now this FSP company "own" it

Yes it is the case, if you bought two aircraft "A" and "B" when you fly "A"
you will get somes income from "B" also (given that your flight result was good)

hope it's more clear ?

Re: Building a fleet - clut - 28-06-2005

I have a question regarding the "Buy current FS plane".

When you click this button, do you get a confirmation screen listing the actual aircraft you are buying, such as "Are you sure you want to
purchase Boeing 737-400 West line Continental?" I can just imagine the user buying the wrong plane because they forgot to select it in
FS.

Re: Building a fleet - DanSteph - 28-06-2005

Sure, you get not only a confirmation but you have the choice also to buy
brand new or old plane (wich may carry their own set of risk):

Thanks Dan, that looks fantastic. You've really thought of everything here. The mark of a good developer.

I get more and more impressed with this product each day.

Yes, that's fantastic! You've answered my question in everyway, thank-you.

This product looks like it is going not only meet, but exceed all my expectations. Congrats! Looking forward to release...

Re: Building a fleet - Shady - 18-10-2005

Hey!
There's one thing I don't understand since I'm a total loser in matter of programming. If I do the changes in aircraft.cfg do I have to make
two files? Copy the whole "X" aircraft directory (making it "Xb")or just put more lines into the config file?
