CRJ200 range? - iflyfsx - 23-09-2017

I don't get it. According to the official specifications at

http://www2.bombardier.com/CRJ/en/specifications.jsp?langId=en&crjId=200

the CRJ200's average fuel flow at cruise speed is about 325gph, and has a fuel capacity of 2,100g (14,300 lbs).

So...2100/325=6.5 hours. More or less. I realize the fuel flow will be considerably higher during take-off and initial climb, and lower during descent.

At the normal cruising speed of 424 kts, in 6.5 hours you would cover more than 2700 nm. But the maximum range is listed as 1700 nm, which is NOWHERE NEAR that.

I wouldn't think twice about a small discrepancy, but this makes no sense.

Huh?

The part you are missing is taking into account the weight of passengers and thier baggage, this would reduce the ammount of fuel you can also cary thus resulting in shorter distance

That makes sense.
