Thanks guys!! I always wondered about the slight stutters with RC4 even though I moved it to a different disk drive. Now it seems obvious.
Should have thought of earlier. Off to the store ...

This could prove to be too good to be true!

Re: Soundcard vs onboard / Framerates - runibl - 07-09-2006

Yep, it's always best to use an addon soundcard, since the onboard once takes away resources.
I have known this for quite some time and always used an addon card. But this just reminded me that i turned onmy onboard soundcard a while back, for use with a headset when flying online.

I had totaly forgotten, I'm gonna turn it off again.

Or not Hunappy
Just bought an Audigy 4, disabled onboard sound, installed card, installed drivers, rebooted PC and... no sound at all - nada - nothing - nix!!
Either I stupidly missed something or they sold me a broken card.

OFF to the store ... Rant

Try to disable the onboard card from the BIOS...

Re: Soundcard vs onboard / Framerates - eazy - 07-09-2006

I hope he did switch on the PC lol

Another thing I just remembered: Do NOT install all the gimmickry that comes with the soundcard - just the essential bits (drivers and
absolutely neccessary software)

Yep, I fully agree, only the drivers otherwise your pc will be slower than with your built in cardSmile I'm not interested in some sound scheme
accompanied by some neon desktop all setup by my sounddrivers just in case i want to play FreeCell Smile

Do you have to uninstall the drivers for your onboard sound card too or will disabling it in the BIOS be enough?
