How many are not buying FSX ? - XM DUDE - 22-03-2006

as the thought of starting all over again with hundreds of dollars of add ons just dosen't work for me.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - ivo - 22-03-2006

I'll wait a while before I before I buy it because there will be a lack of add-ons for it. Plus, I don't think that MS is improving a lot of things
except for scenery. Anyways, I'll buy it once there are good payware for it.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - Airliner - 22-03-2006

I just finished upgrading my computer to an Athlon64 and FINALLY have decent frame rates. If I have to go into hock just to get FSX to run
smoothly, I don't even want to look at it! Smile

Agreed about the addons. If you can simply drag your aircraft, AI traffic, sounds, etc. from FS9, that would make a huge difference but if
they started from scratch and did a different format AGAIN, that would suck.

So far, the only real pluses (that doesn't look right), I've seen are the inclusion of airport vehicles, cars and animals, some scenery. If they
reworked ATC and include a realistic systems simulation (failures, etc.), that would be worth it but to be honest, I'm not going to get it for
the sake of a few catering trucks and some birds. And you know that those dynamic scenery areas will only be at selected airports, like
how only a few are high detail now, so that means a ton more downloading, buying addons, etc. Pretty good racket they have going on
though. Smile

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - XM DUDE - 22-03-2006

I think it will be adiffernt animal(reasion not to buy) and once I have Radar contact, I will have no need to buy at all as FS9 will be
complete.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - highlander - 22-03-2006

I'll be getting it, but only when I've got a PC that can handle it.

My frame rate in FS9 is workable, but not anything like spectacular (varies between 8 FPS and 30 FPS, location-dependant - my Athlon XP2600+ CPU is
definitely the bottleneck here, because I got no framerate hit by enabling FSAA on my graphics card).

As far as I've been told, MS have compatibility in mind, making existing 3rd party add-ons workable as a real priority.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - SaVas - 22-03-2006

I will wait until I can get a top of the line Vista running PC, then wait a bit more until the add-ons start flowing in, so about a year to year
and a half after release. It looks great but I am in no hurry to get it (saying that now until I start seeing the inevitable screen shots by users
that make me drool) lol

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - XM DUDE - 22-03-2006

What will so great about Vista, everyone seems to be drooling over it.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - runibl - 22-03-2006

I will definatly be buying it. The question however is, am i gonna fly with it.
I will buy, install then try flying it. Then after seeing the FPS at 0.1 i will jump back into FS9 and wait for more addons and more powerfull PC with
vista.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - DBE - 22-03-2006

Knowing me, I'll probably buy it, leave it hanging around in its box for a while, before installing it approx. 6 months later, i.e. 6 months before
FSXI hits the streets.. Wink

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - WBHoenig - 23-03-2006

I won't be buying it because Fs 12 will be out before I can get a good enough modern computer.

Yah it can be costly keeping up with the arms race.

Re: How many are not buying FSX ? - jboweruk - 23-03-2006

I'll wait till all my add-ons have been updated to work with it. Until then I'll fly FS9.
