Oh please don't overload FSP! - Skyscraper - 30-10-2005

Dear fellow simmers

Many people enjoy this program. Me too.
Few would ever fly FS9 without it anymore because that dear lettle program really adds a lot to what FS9 used to be. Me too.

I think people like FSP BECAUSE it is simple and you can always add this and that to it. Sounds, Payload models, etc. You can even see
the passenger list. You could even MODIFY that if you wish.

Some people have used that proggie to their full satisfaction. Others sometimes encounter crashes to desktop. Me too. Again others
start to come up with a whole lot of "could you pleez add this", "wouldn't it be nice to have that", "won't you change Hot Food to
Meal", "what about shorter movies for shorter flights". Even visible crew has been asked. People moving to and from the plane. Et cetera
et cetera.

Oh please. The more of these "this-and thats" you add, the less stable any program is. Yes I know. It would always be nice to have many
things, but PLEASE!!

I thought this is a great program? So why do you want to have this and that added anyway if it is so great? I personally find FSP great THE
WAY IT IS. Correct bugs and that's it. Thank you very much!

I would say it this way:

The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck will be the day they start making Leaf Blowers. [Image: leafblower.jpg]

Do you think Dan could incorporate a daily planner and a spreadsheet into FSP then I could get rid of excel. lol

If you don't want it "over loading" then don't update it.

Appart the "mini display" problem that appear rarely on some system due to
buggy graphical driver the FsP flight take hardly 1 FPS even on my poor computer (1.7GHZ)

This is not a miracle or because only a few code run during the main loop (FsP have a total of 42'000 lines of C++ ASM code)
but it's because I'm fond of optimisation and know how to do it.

Same with the size of FsP himself, usually you may have more 60Mb or even
100Mb for such addon instead of the low 26Mb.

I'm the "weight watcher" of the programation Wink

I'll continue to add some stuffs but still will take care to optimize so it still run well.

Of course I cannot add all the request, first because not everyone want the same,
second because I cannot satisfy every request and last some are impossible to do technically
or doesn't fit with the game in my opinion.

FSP is amazing on framrate, it doesn't affect my 500Mhz by even a tenth either! Smile
