Hot Food, Dan plz read and confirm - poden - 19-10-2005

OK, you might remember a few weeks ago there was a topic about hot food only being available on planes heavier than a certain weight. You (Dan)
checked the code, and said that hot food was unavailable on aircraft lighter than 4000 lbs. I think that's in error, and the lower limit is heavier
than 4000 lbs. Is it possible the weight is 4000 KG?

I'm now flying a Pilatus PC-12, which weighs about 9500 lbs (still under 4000 KG), and hot food is still unavailable. When I fly a 737, hot food IS
available, so there doesn't appear to be a problem with my installation. I do have crew on the PC-12 (I checked the "all aircraft have crew option).

The problem is, the PC-12 is a long-ranged plane, so two rounds of sandwiches just isn't enough food for a long flight. I guess I'll have to go
without crew for the world tour I'm going to do with the PC-12. Can you please check this and see if the "4000" isn't actually kilograms?

Thanks!

Does the PC-12 have a galley?

Beer

things is that you must have a rew aboard also to serve food...
you can force crew to be available to any aicraft (see setup)

Yes, I know. I have crew on the PC-12; I said that in my initial post.

I like the question "is there a galley on a PC12". How do you propose your "crew" serve hot food in a PC12 cabin?

If anything, I think Dan might think of making pax on lightweight planes less hungry.. Anyone in real life getting in a PC12 for a 4 hour
journey knows there aint any flight attendants, no drinks, no hot meals. They need to bring a cooler with their own sandwiches and beer
and do it oldschool style!

Personally, I think that if the "crew on all aircraft" option is checked, ALL limiting factors for serving food, etc. should be REMOVED
completely (namely the weight restriction, however any others that might limit service should be removed as well). Or perhaps, we could
add a more_option.cfg feature that would allow food to be served on any aircraft or at any time?

What was your altitude in the PC-12 at the time you attempted to commence service? What was your pitch attitude/rate of climb/descent?

I agree with you Brad! Smile

The PC-12 comes in a number of configurations; its a very versatile plane; some configurations, I'm sure, include at least a microwave oven and some sort of heating for coffee, etc. Anyway, it doesn't matter, since you could bring hot food in insulated containers onto ANY plane.

But yeah, I think having a flight attendant on a plane under 10,000 lbs is pretty silly. Maybe for these small planes, a different sound file could
play, with the pilot's voice saying "please help yourself to sandwiches" or something like that. But there should also be more than 2 servings of
"sandwiches" (or whatever) available to keep the PAX from getting hungry.

Anyway, I'm just going to fly it with the crew option shut off for long flights on small aircraft. My original question was really just to find out
what the lower weight limit is for having hot food available. The 4000 lbs I was originally told appears to be wrong, and I just thought it might
have been 4000 kg instead.

I suppose I'll eventually figure it out by flying more different aircraft if I don't get an answer.

Well, the altitude was high enough for sandwiches to be served. The "hot food" option was still marked as unavailable.

Well, is there an answer? Thanks in advance for checking!
