Captain Sim Herc released - JayKae - 19-10-2005

I havehad this plane for a couple of hours now and hey... I thought the LDS 767 was great and that the PMDG 747 was awesome, but
there is NO words for this Hercules, it is the best plane I have ever flown in FS... if you have the funds... go and get it

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - Mud - 19-10-2005

I had half an hour with her last night, couldn't even get the engines to fire up ..... lol

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - SaVas - 20-10-2005

I would have to agree that this is a fantastic bird. Thanks to my gf giving me an early Christmas present (so nice of her Big Grin )

I tried cold and dark without reading the manual but...it was back to I want to get this thing in the air so I did the everything on routine and
wow....stunning. Beautiful. Fantastic Worth $51

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - SE-TMA - 20-10-2005

Looks REALLY good...but I am VERY picky with payware, so...SaVas...you are the expert...how much is modeled, how does it work? How does it handle, and
more importantly:

Which rank you need in FsP to fly it? *smile*

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - jboweruk - 21-10-2005

You need a fairly high rank if you are using career mode. As to the other questions:

How much is modeled, pretty much everything, flares, lights all the usual and the ramp, there's even a humvee that comes out the back
and you can even poke a flag out of the escape hatch.

How does she fly... Let's just say I have never been able to do the Khe Sanh approach in the other Herc I possess, but my first flight in
this lady she felt so stable I found it quite easy to keep speed down using reverse thrust with full flaps and gear down. Finished up with a
circa 300 fpm touchdown. Yep, I think it's worth every penny of the Pro version. 51 bucks may seem a lot, but over here that amounts to
around 30 pound which is about the norm for a good add-on aircraft. And this one IMHO ranks among the best I've ever bought.

I do have one question for the afficionado's though, has anybody yet managed to get her to start from the cockpit starter buttons, because
mine won't even turn over? yet when I used my joystick setup last night (I mapped the starters to four seperate buttons on my stick) she
fired up and away we went.

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - Jimbo - 21-10-2005

Here is a link to a discussion over on Avsim that I hope will help. Seems they've been firing her from C&D. I'm going to give it a try when I
get home from work this afternoon.

Sounds good. I am well on my way becoming a payware addict...I've been drooling over PSS' 777 too. Think I'll get it when money is not an issue :P

Btw...anyone here have stuff from AlphaSim? I checked their page, but couldn't make out the quality of their stuff...Are they any good?

I have several of Alphasim's products. Granted they are not great, but they arent terrible either. Dont expect functional VCs, or a bunch of
clickable functioning buttons, but they on average offer decent low budget payware of planes that arent always avail in the community as
freeware, or at least good freeware

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - TonyH - 22-10-2005

I had to get this, having had a few flights in Hercs when I was in the UAS. It's a great plane, flies superbly.

I just recreated a real life flight I did many years ago, Lyneham to Gibraltar.

In FS9 there's no rock at Gibraltar ???? Rant

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - Navymmw - 24-10-2005

Dose anyone know how to get the hummer to go in our out, i can get the ramp open and the door open but the tracks will not go on, so
dose anyone know how to make the tracks work?

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - Mud - 24-10-2005

Virtual cockpit under the throttle quadrant you see the AP and the flapslever.
On the right, there are doors and ramp buttons , poke them around abit and then it should work.
Maybe I miss something but that way I get the tracks out.

Re: Captain Sim Herc released - TonyH - 24-10-2005

Also in the 2D cockpit you get a whole array of icons to bring up the many subpanels. One of those is the door control panel to open the
cargo door, then there is another to slide out the ramps form the doors, and finally a third for the hummer animation.

You've also got icons to add or remove chocks etc, fire flares etc, etc.

Has anybody managed to start the engines without using Ctrl E yet ? If so how do you do it.

Also has anybody got a payload model for this beauty ? I expect to get to C7 on my next flight and should be able to fly the Herc with FSP.
