Minimums Etc - Scotty_1991 - 24-10-2006

Does FSX call these out, and what does Minimums actually mean...

Re: Minimums Etc - AKLupine - 24-10-2006

WX mins for the approach you're flying. It's the point of go/no go for completing the approach to touchdown.

Re: Minimums Etc - Scotty_1991 - 24-10-2006

What do you mean :p the point at which you either land or dont land?, plus i asked the q already but doesFSX call these hieghts and
minimums

Re: Minimums Etc - AKLupine - 24-10-2006

Sorry, I cannot answer the FSX bit, but for the general question, it's the point where you should be able to make out the approach lights or runway
lights in poor weather. Unless you're CAT III , if you cannot make out the landing environment at this point you would go around or move on to your
alternate airfield depending on your fuel state and if it is likely to improve, and IF you trust your controller. There have been a few times when I
have established enough trust with the guy in the goo that after landing they have looked me up for a "thank you for helping me sleep in my own bed
tonight." Those are the nights I really enjoy my work! Smile

So you real ATC...I want to get to know you better you must have mn =P im fasinated, even if i'm only 15/6

Re: Minimums Etc - bestonboard - 28-10-2006

I haven't been in a plane that has called out minimums and heights as yet, unless you're in a mission. I'm using FSX Deluxe.

You're 2 1/2? (15 / 6 = 2.5)

lol

I haven't heard any such calls in FSX Deluxe. Again, missions are a different story. EVERYTHING regarding ATC, Co-Pilot, etc. is hard
scripted into the mission. Go to Flight Simulator X\Missions and then select andy mission and go into the sound folder. You will see a
list of all audio related to that mission. I'm really getting into those missions! Hope to have a freeware tool out soon to give audio
checklists for any flight between any two airports for selected aircraft. Pick the end points; pick the aircraft; generate the mission and
away you go! We'll see. So far, so good!

So, thats a no!!!! Hunappy I though Microsoft would have atleast put that in dont you think guys! and girls =P lol

Re: Minimums Etc - Ceemosp - 29-10-2006

Hmmm...my good ol' trusty FS9 cockpits have altitude and minimum calls built in thanks to reality xp flightline 2/4 gauges. If I am not
mistaking there are also some freeware gauges that have the callouts.

FSX i would not know as I do not plan to switch to it too soon.
