RE: [official] information about Prepar3D v4 (64 bits version) - crikeemikee - 30-11-2017

Spoilt brat is back = spent some time reading instuxshun manual cos I never been one before.
How's everyone doing out there? I spent a few mowments helping another addon developer wit some spoilt brat alpha and beta tests for his P3D4 addon and he's up n running now with his ultra kool addon. Hope Dan is doing good. I miss FS Passengers so much that I went back to Train Sim. I'm back in Flight Sim now because the Fat Controller said I was a spoilt brat and it is official apparently. Bought a new dummy to spit cos mum said I musn't use the one I already spat. That's the rule = 1 spat per dummy. Holla back.

Any update?

lol I hope your develover friend checked your work. Bound to be a few mistakes judging by the above post..

You should've stayed on train sim bit more slow paced for you. Ps judging by your attitude and approach I bet your addon is rushed and full of bugs.. just so you can say your am awesome fast developers assistant.

How old are you 8 ?

I do not even understand what he writes.
Oh well, whatever, nevermind.

Crikeemikee, if you cannot contribute anything constructive on the forum, please go elsewhere. You have been warned.

Let me add my enthusiastic anticipation for the V4 update as well. And also that I would buy the software with the price of a new package if and when it is offered, even though I own an older an older version already; this is how much it means to me in my overall sim experience. I hope that it is on the works, and that it will come out as our Christmas treat! Smile

Folks, we are not going to engage in pissing matches. I have deleted the irrelevant responses to this thread.

So, no update yet?? not any news??

RE: [official] information about Prepar3D v4 (64 bits version) - Turbine777 - 03-12-2017

DAN!!! It's me, another Dan! Smile

I have to say that I've been quietly watching this thread for a very long time. I've been using FSP for so long that not using it when simming is like not watching porn during sex... haha jk, I don't always do that...

Dan was actually the very first developer I encountered that went above and beyond for a customer. He helped not only me, but gave me the info needed to help PMDG fix a bug over a decade ago in their now ancient MD-11 and fsp. They didn't fix it, but Dan helped me get to the bottom of it.

Since reading Dan's very first post of fsp joining the 64bit world my hear went out to him, as it does for many devs. The flight sim community really isn't as big as folks think, and then once you break down those that use FSP that small list just gets that much smaller. Being someone that has had to try and follow others in giving free updates or at least trying to give a discount for such a major update I can only feel bad in understanding what some or all devs go through.

"CzarW" finally hit the nail on the head of what I have been thinking since day one. Maybe iy's no longer profitable. I would say it never was and it would be accurate. Not meaning it to be insulting but to break the mith of developers of flight sim addons retiring and moving their family to the Cayman islands just doesn't happen. I can't imagine the leg work for one man, or even a small team to rewrite fsp for 64bit and won't pretend to, but I know many developers and many have quit the sim world and some came back, but it's over things like this I wish there were more numbers to allow for coupons for all and fair payment for hard work for the devs.

Most people cry about the smallest cost, even for a product they've received free updates on for 20 years. Those people need to be discontinued, not the products. I for one would hope Dan would stop any thought of a discounted price and even charge more for this new version than any other. It's worth it and the aggravation of dealing with hostility of a customer base is enough to make "not profitable" much more likely the case. I don't mean to say any of you, I am not. I'm saying in general. A developer is no different than you or I and are consumers first. It's that in which they normally give price breaks on upgrades, if any. It's also what then works against them. I could be wrong and Dan could be nestled up with 3 redheads in Bermuda or waiting on Lockheed Martin's help as he initially stated.

I agree whole heartedly that an update is deserved for everyone, but also wish that we could all afford to pay full price for such hard efforts.

Hope you're doing well, Dan. Please post pics if I was correct about being held up with 3 redheads. I will not only pay full price for the product, but I will wear out any Donate button associated with said pics!!!

Figured I'd drop in and see how the new version was coming along. I see the usual amount of whiners in here, lol. Dan, if you need help in testing (when you get to that phase) more than happy to help again. Was a blast testing for P3Dv3. Looking forward to FSP for v4. I for one don't give a rat's *** how long it takes him to finish, when he's ready to release I'll be ready with the plastic!

RE: [official] information about Prepar3D v4 (64 bits version) - enzoaugusto - 04-12-2017

Good morning everyone, Turbine777 li and I agree with you wrote, I understand that as informed by Dan himself that the work is great, I am in favor of a paid update, because several add are being charged and the FSP I think fair to be too, is a new Dan program will not start from scratch, it's fair!
What makes me sad is the way Dan informs us of the progress, many here criticize us clients (as they) charge a satisfaction, I think that in this matter we are unfortunately lacking, an information for his followers would be in my view the minimum of respect , I'm not saying that it has to be daily, but once a month it would not be inconvenient for Dan and mainly would leave us more calm regardless of the progress, indemendente to be good or bad news, would be a polite gesture and respect for their consumers.
Note even if the informed is the end of the FSP, but we would know where to walk, as I have already informed, I use the FSP and I am dependent on it, until death do us part.

It's ridiculous. Nobody complains about the price ...

We would just like to know if we will have the Christmas software as expected...

Unfortunatley, after 7 months of total silence, i am afraid that i will start to think that Dan abandoned the project.

This is my thought, not a rumors or whatever.

Yes it is just your thought, but think about what has to be done to bring FSP into the x64 world. Rewriting miles of code is a huge PITA, trust me I'm still rewriting code for my website that has been down for almost a year. Between real life commitments, family, and frustrations of crap going wrong while coding............ Dan puts in huge amounts of work into these projects, I tested FSP for P3Dv3 and he was very focused about finding all the bugs so he could release it in time for Christmas. Just because there is no news doesn't mean he isn't working his arse off. I have complete faith in Dan, so FSP isn't going anywhere near the scrap heap (just my two cents). As for those wanting discounts and freebies, just look at what other devs do when they put out a major update PMDG didn't, LM didn't, HiFi gave discounts. You can't sustain a hobby like FS on freebies. This would make is near impossible to keep the level of detail and participation going, especially since one good or bad review can make or break customers loyalty. And it is the holidays so give him a break.

I thought i was clear enough: i am not complaining or whining. I never did it against Dan.
It is just my thought, and if i am right, I AM OK WITH IT.
I will pass over and live anyways.
