Seriously folks, I received a reply from Dan this morning. Although I won't divulge any specifics, I can say things have been quite serious with him, but it's beginning to look upward. Currently he is working through the blocked code issues and will try to have the P3D update completed by next month.

Good news Joe, thanks.
About the other thing, what are you referring to? I didn't understood what forumtroll meant. But by its nickname itself, i can suppose.

Tonaz, I was referring to the back and forth sniping between people on here. Not just one or two instances.

This is good news and a step in the right direction, hope everything gets better for him.

What I meant is that Dan is facing a very difficult problem to solve. Considering this, I still find it strange that he doesn't have 2 minutes to write an update to us. It's rather disrespectful. Considering that he is facing a coding challenge that most developers can't solve, and that he stopped responding to us, I assumed that the project was dead. I'm happy I was wrong, but I still think Dan is a ¤#@%&$ for not bothering to keep us informed AS HE PROMISED.

Thank you for informing us.

You know, Dan should hire you as PR manager. You do a better job of informing the customer base than him.

How to we suppose to know if any of the info you giving out is accurate.  One thing come to my mind is ( he say she say ).  I need this to be official.
In my line of work we never go to middle man but the source of it.  No offense to you but I don't know You and you don't  Know me and its hard to trust another person statement as I can also write a similar statement stating that every thing is going in the right direction.   again no offense im just a deep thinker.

Well, you do have valid points as far as Dan's communications go. He has always stated, over the years, that he is poor in the customer relations area. Those of us who have been part of the FsP community for a long time have known and expect this. It's who he is and I can't change that about him.

Now, the difficult problem to solve is a understatement. As stated in my previous post, I can't divulge specifics about Dan's challenges, but will say that I can fully understand why Dan hasn't been able to work on the update or respond much...even to me. Dan will have to divulge this information when he is able to. Even I think that all of those who have hammered on him about his absence, rightly or wrongly so, may have a mea culpa moment. I will leave at that.

I do have some concerns about the complexity of the issues he reported initially. I did my share of developing earlier in my career, and what he had to face of challenges with the 64-bit conversion is daunting, to say the least. Nevertheless, he has my sympathy for this bit.

Where I point my finger, as you said, is the customer relations bit. As it stands right now, people are abandoning his product, and I fear that if he doesn't face the crowd soon, FSP won't recover on the market. As far as mea culpa goes, I can only point out that if you promise a timeline to your customers, and you do not follow up and deliver, and fail to communicate why you aren't delivering as promised, your business will usually go under. If you fail to deliver to the market as promised, your business will fail. We both know that the community has shown quite the patience with Dan, but the confidence in the product is next to ruined as of right now (judging by the massive criticism here, of course).

I'm one of the oldtimers who knows of Dan's propensity for silence, but my patience is about to run out. We're talking 3+ missed release dates without as much as an explanation on the latter two.

Again, all valid points and understood. What more can I say?

Well. this is hopefully good news but at this stage of the game, I'll believe it when it's running on my computer. I Hope it comes.
This is surely needed big time.

Guys say what you want about Dan - I am with him! 110% If I were him, I wouldn't respond to any of you guys. All this whining and complaining over what? He hasn't had time to say HI!? ...What are you guys - 5 yr olds!?

Actually, I think 5 yr olds are smart enough to know you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

All I know is when I got into FSX and found FSP some 7 yrs ago, I was out of work and quite depressed and short on cash. Dan gave me this add-on for half price.

When he comes out with the P3DV4+ version, I will pay $150 for it (price of my most expense add-on), because I remember.

Alright, I've been given the green light to add this much about Dan's situation:

He's had major health issues. Think of one word no one wants to ever hear when speaking to the doctor. Interpolate if you will.
As stated earlier, things are looking positive for him and he should be in full FsP mode in January to complete the update.
That is all.
