Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - jones danby - 09-07-2005 all the same which attitude I uses...the FS.. freezes after 15 minutes! also a new installation caused nothing.does it lie to fsnavigator?i test it now already since yesterday noon..without positive result. jones ![]() Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - fruitfly - 09-07-2005 When it freezes, try ctrl-alt-del and minimize. See if there are any warnings in the background. In my case it was ZoneAlarm checking for ActiveSky, but it would eventualy crash the windows instead.? Probably not, but if it CTD after a certain TIME and not at a certain LOCATION...? who knows ? Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - Deacon - 09-07-2005 OK, if you're a beta tester, then we need to have a clear view of your entire install setup with FS9. Where are the files first off? You mention that you have 4 TB. Are they RAID 0 or RAID 1? What sound card are you using? What else is running as an application (or process) at the same time as FS9? Are you online and with whom? Do you use a USB headset and mic, or direct connect mic and speakers to the sound card? What have you got listed in your [OLDMODULES] section of the FS9.cfg file? (important) Let's start here and nip this thing in the bud. Regards, Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 09-07-2005 Ok, I have narrowed it down to a dll conflict. Because of the number of them I have, using the 1/2 method to find the problem. I have it finally narrowed down to 5. For some odd reason, after 33 hours awake, I couldn't think anymore and my forehead hurt from dropping onto my keyboard 3 times.... (really..) So I crashed for a few hours.. back now, and will kill this one shortly. I'll keep you all informed. And thanks for all the help and ideas... Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 09-07-2005 Ok...now it gets reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally strange: AGain, remember, with fspassenger.dll NOT in the folder, all works perfectly. Add it, and the problem starts. Now, I have found that a problem exists with these dll's: AdvConnect.dll AeroCore.dll C421NJ6.dll cfo_tfxinfo.dll cfo_tfxmap.dll FDSConnection.dll FSConnect.dll FSLog.dll FSNav.dll output.txt PMDGOptions.DLL TrafficInfo.DLL ViMaCore2004.DLL WideServer.dll But, and here is where it gets interesting....if I remove ANY 3 of these, and I mean any, it does NOT matter at all what combonation, I have tried combo's for over 7 hours .... but any 3 of these out and fspassenger in, all works fine. Add back just ONE dll and crash every time. Doesn't matter what one. I thought maybe a number of dll's would be the problem. But, that wouldn't be true because they all work if I take out just one (fspassenger.dll) from the list. Ok, now I found a new twist... Just for giggles, I put in all those, and removed 3 others from the full list to see what would happen. When removing 3 others that are NOT required by fs9, same thing. Works fine. I tried removing the gps.dll, gps_export.dll, and fsuipc.dll (yes, I have the latest version and yes, it is registered) and fs9 worked just fine. ARGH!!!!!!! Here is the full list of dll's I have installed including fspassenger's. ABLSCPT.DLL ACONTAIN.DLL AdvConnect.dll AeroCore.dll AI_PLAYR.DLL ATC.DLL C421NJ6.dll cfo_tfxinfo.dll cfo_tfxmap.dll CONTROLS.DLL DEMO.DLL DYNAMIC.DLL FACILITIES.DLL FDSConnection.dll FE.DLL FLIGHT.DLL FSConnect.dll FSLog.dll FSNav.dll FsPassengers.dll FSUI.DLL FSUIPC.dll G2D.DLL G3D.DLL GLOBAL.DLL gps.DLL gps_export.dll INSTRUCTOR.DLL MAIN.DLL mpchat.DLL MULTIPLAYER.DLL PANELS.DLL PMDGOptions.DLL REALITY.DLL SIM1.dll SimScheduler.DLL SOUND.DLL SYMMAP.DLL TERRAIN.DLL Traffic.DLL TrafficInfo.DLL UTIL.DLL ViMaCore2004.DLL VISUALFX.DLL Weather.DLL WideServer.dll WINDOW.DLL I am now officially at a loss. Will await help from anyone... Going to take an hour and jump in the pool with the kids... Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - DanSteph - 09-07-2005 that may be then a memory conflict ? too much DLL may be located at the same adress, Fs try to relocate them of course but if there is to many ? If this is really the case, there is nothing I can do... you'll have to choose the DLL you want because you have a hell of list here... Dan Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - pagir - 09-07-2005 Just for fun... Have you tried to ADD ANY .dll other than FsPassengers? Maybe there's somewhere a limit handle by Fs9... Just thinking... Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 09-07-2005 Yes, I can unload fspassenger, and the rest work fine. I can then add one from several add-ons that are currently disabled, and they still work just fine. I have actually had another 8 in there on top of that list (- fsp of course) with no problems. This one has me stumped. Not entirely sure what all the others (ones I can remove) do or control...but probably something I have installed that I want. 8( Dan, as I don't have a clue when it comes to PC programming, do you tell the dll where in memory to load? Is that something you have control over as the programmer? Just curious if you made it load somewhere specific if I may have better luck... Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - DanSteph - 09-07-2005 we have a "hint" on this only, if the place is free it goes here, if not the program relocate the dll elsewere... But if more than two fight for the same place I don't have a clue also (windows' coocking) it depend of the DLL.... Dan Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 09-07-2005 Seems to me, that since everything work without fsp dll and then all hell breaks loose when I put that one dll in, it almost has to be a memory conflict. Any change of getting a test module from you with a totally different location set in it? (if I understood you right and that you have a say in where it MAY go....) Maybe if you make one where it goes to some way out area in memory, it may work. At least it may let us know if that indeed is the problem... Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - DanSteph - 09-07-2005 yes but then it may conflict with another one, would be a hell now it seem to work fine on the majority of system... anyway I agree we can make a test (dll just for you) once I restart working on FsP soon... what we can do also is that you send me all your DLL so I can "sniff" where they should go and see if one seem to conflict... Dan Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - samiranks - 09-07-2005 try making a copy of fs9.cfg then delete the original restart flight sim and it should rebuild your fs9.cfg go to of course C:/doc and settings application data/microsoft/fs9.cfg Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 10-07-2005 Quote:samiranks wrote: I have done that several times. Also cleared the cache in fs9 as well as the system. Cleaned the memory, and even tried unloading system dll's before running fs9. Dan, I will zip up my dll's and upload them to you. Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - aibiria - 10-07-2005 Hi there, Guys I was thinking about something that it might work. I've done this before with a couple of programs and it worked Have you tried? To install flight simulator to a new directory? Have you deleted it by regedit OUT of your system before reinstalling it elsewhere? If your answer is yes here is a little tip (i've done it before and it works when fs drives me nuts) Open a new user account administrator for your windows xp Install a new version of this flight in a new directory, lets say C:\fstest onto that account You'll see what happens Re: Crash of FS9 every single time... - SpectroPro - 10-07-2005 I appreciate the tip. I have reinstalled fs9 over 20 times this year. Not doing it again. NO app is worth that. Especially when I have over 100 add-ons installed. Total count actually is 187 but that also includes scenery add-ons. I wouldn't be caught dead installing on my C drive. My C drive is for system files only. I have one drive just for applications, one for text and data files, one for flight simulator, one for games, and one for various other storage and such.. My flight sim drive is 60 gigs with 38 used. I don't even install add-ons to it. Unless they have to be there, they get installed to my games drive in a fs-addon directory. As for Deacon, who asked about my drive config....I don't do raids. The drives are simply installed as you would install any drive. And I have given my info to Dan. He is going to test some things out when he has time. We should be able to squash this problem soon. Until then, I am removing 3 dll's of add-ons that I don't use every flight. |
