Well, now they found something........

a seat and some fuel - that is ALL! I dont want to imagine if they crashed into the water with a high vertical speed.....
I wonder what happened there can the fly-by-wire system be damaged by a thunderstorm?

There is currently no FAA or European requirement for aircraft today to encode and send position
and velocity data via something like the ACARS, and if it did, the data rate would still be pretty slow. It is pretty disappointing though, that this
is all that could be achieved with the current technology.

Yes, this is very odd, when we have things like OnStar that know more about your car and your
driving than you do, satellite phones, and so on. It seems to me, the technology is there. I guess
it's a cost-savings issue, and/or bureaucracy getting in the way of implementing the system.

30 days unless in 14000ft of water.
the found that debre, but that stuff could be floating for hours. if it broke up in the air well theres probly not going to be any survivors
Sad

if it hit the water. theres a chance it may have floated for awiel. or it may have nosed dived i dont know.

really i dont think there will be any survivors. but im known to be a pescamist to

It's looking kinda strange though. If they only found a few pieces of debris, then that would suggest a somewhat controlled ditch in the
ocean. If it broke up mid air, or crash dived into the ocean, then you would expect much more debris floating around in the same area.

I hope that they will find the black boxes quickly so that we can get answers as to what has happened. For now, I only hope that the
people onboard did not suffer much. One should not think about a situation where they knew they were going to die, but still needed to fall
35,000ft out of the sky before it would happen. That scares the hell out of me... Sad

Flying and A330 without elecs would be hard enough. Little own in severe turbulance. AND! attempting to ditch in the ocean.

Seems from the wreckage apparantly, the pilots may have been trying to turn around to an island to land.

I hope it all ended quickly for the passengers as crew aswell, and no one had to endure anything too horrible.

There are rumours now about a bomb threat few days before the crash for the same flight a few days earlier.
That airplane then was checked completely and nothing found and the plane departed and arrived safely in Paris.

Maybe the bomb threat was about the wrong flight...

Anastasios.

"Authorities checked the Boeing 777 and found nothing. Security was tightened during check-in for Flight 415, which left on time and without incident,
the officials said."

Different airplane. They are not reporting it very clearly.

Yes, for flight 415. That one arrived safe.

The plane that crashed is flight 447.

Now CNN says the wreckage found was not from the Air France airplane at all.

Maybe a coliision?

Anastasios.

Re: Air France A330 vanishes off brazilian coast! - DSW334 - 05-06-2009

probably not. The wreckage found was made out of wood.

Some german online news say the wreckage parts are of a ship and the kerosine is oil.
But where is the plane, then?!
